My head may explode. I hate double standards and that is the only definition of what this is.
Stating that the boys have been asked to not use profanity in the presence of the girls does not justify any of this.

This reminds me of that poem from childhood:
What are little boys made of?
Snips and snails, and puppy dogs tails
That's what little boys are made of !"
What are little girls made of?
"Sugar and spice and all things nice
That's what little girls are made of!
And....
Horses sweat, men perspire, and women glow.
To all of which I say HorseZHIT!!!

F*(k that!
If i had a daughter in that school, i would advise her not to take that pledge. (Of course, I'd never put a child of mine in a religious school...especially not a girl child, and most especially not a catholic religious school.)

“It's unattractive when girls have potty mouths,”
It's unnattractive when boys are sexist.
"Teachers said they hoped that if the girls focused on cleaning up their speech on campus for a month, their improved manners would take hold and rub off on the boys."
I find this no different than when women are told that they should not dress provocatively so they don't tempt men into rape.

I find it a little different, but I also agree with you. The difference is merely one of degree. There's this idea out there that women are responsible for monitoring/improving/keeping in check the bad behavior of men. F*ck that sh**.

As usual, it's women's fault if men do something wrong and we're responsible for everything. Similar to why people think women should cover up or not be out late.

Oh yes, I should've been more specific, definitely a different degree, but same general idea. It's total bullsh*t.

I find it no different at all. Females should be 'ladies' and virgins and if they are not, rape and cursing from males is warranted.

I call horsepuck on this. Girls shouldn't be held to a different standard as boys.
But I will say that at work, the females do have the worse cuss mouths when it comes to it being just our department.

This area is under construction as my hair type changed and nothing works well for me. I shampoo, I condition and pretty much have done nothing but chuck my hair in a messy bun for the past oh...year? Yeah, I'm that lazy.
No...going no-poo or CG does not work for me. It leaves me overconditioned and oily in a second no matter what I use, so that's not what's not working.

Doesn't make sense. I would think there would be general rules against foul language for everyone at a Catholic school.

Ridiculous. I worked for a man who had this "rule". The guys would cuss like sailors but if a woman let a profanity slip, he'd say she wasn't "lady-like".

Maybe I was just being oversensitive to something that's not rape being compared to rape. That wasn't the poster's intent, of course, and I was probably just being too literal. I absolutely agree that there's a slippery slope when women are held responsible for men's behavior -- when women are expected to be "ladylike" in order to hold men in check. And yes, blaming women for their own rapes can lie at the end of that slippery slope.

I would say it's the kind of thinking that contributes to rape culture

Yup.
Also, going back to that thread from a week or two ago, that's what people are talking about when they say that chivalry is wrong. Chivalry is the male protection that Ladies receive in return for docilely following the rules. Common or bad women are to be abused by men as their just punishment. Two sides of the same coin.
