revamping my routine: how often to shampoo??
i realized that my hair habits weren't working for me. got to a point where my fine, dry hair was fried & thirsty from heat styling & coloring, and my already lazy & unpredictible curls were fading away into weak waves.
i was co-washing 2-3 times a week, first with Roux Porosity Control then "graduating" to L'Oreal EverCreme Masque because shampoo made my hair tangle. i only shampooed my roots (with PM Lavender Mint or GVP Hydrating) when they felt gross, once a week or once every other week.
my hair got a huge boost the other day when i tried Giovanni Nutrafix (PT), mixed w/ Fairy Tales Energizing LI because i was scared of more dryness! i have Abba Pure Finish & Giovanni Magnetic gels on the way, and i'm *SOOO* excited to order Blended Cutie Silky Swirls Shampoo & Tug Me Not Conditioner & SSCEJ when i get paid this week!
how often do you shampoo?
TIA!
Amanda

I never shampoo! I do however low-poo about once every two weeks. Shampoo is too drying and damaging for my hair.

About a year ago I purchased a gentle sulfate shampoo that's packed with protein and I use it about once every week or two. I've tried tons of low-poos and I found most of them leave my hair feeling much more dry and stripped than the sulfate shampoo I use. Formulation is way more important than the presence or absence of any one particular ingredient.
On other days I use a cleansing conditioner or a straight co-wash. My gym and karate schedule leave my hair needing to be cleansed daily.

Once a week (every other shampoo) typically. My hair can handle sulfates pretty well.

I don't. I found a conditioner that doesn't build up and rinses clean with my co-wash.
If I try a new product that builds up, I just borrow a bit of whatever sulfate shampoo my roommate is using. She's a curly, so it's usually pretty gentle.

I shampoo about 3x/wk. It's a gentle sulfate shampoo that doesn't make me as itchy as my favorite low poo. I shampoo with Redken Fresh Curls and love the lather!
Hootenany, I think Corrina uses CHS shampoo.

I use SM curling shampoo which has no sulfates once a week (I cowash in between) but I recently started cleansing only my scalp and letting the water drip down and wash of my ends that way I don't strip too much moisture from my already damaged ends (as shown in the CG book). I don't know if it was the weather (it's been pretty chilly in Miami this weekend) or changing my methods but my hair came out great and the frizz was minimal which for me it's a MIRACLE lol. It almost looked like after I got my devacut and I got great 2nd day hair
