If you've had a deva/dry cut...
After the dry cut and the wash, did they cut again wet? I had my first deva cut last week and although she did a great job (my hair has nice shape, it curls up predictably and she avoided a triangle or a helmet head) I'm not crazy about the jagged ends. Is this something you get used to? Should she have gone over my hair again when wet? I feel like the ends would clump better if they were less jagged.

Usually they cut it dry first, wash, dry then go back and cut any thing left behind.... Last time I cut my hair they spritzed it with water n some areas which scared me but it came out fine

on the rare occasions i stay long enough for my hair to dry, he will look it over and maybe do a snip or two. however, he does not take away the jagged edges.
the jagged edges are totally what i love about the deva cut!! i think it adds so much to a curly head. curly hair does not grow in straight edges. i see two of my granddaughters who have 3c hair, they are 2 1/2 years old and have beautiful hair. it is not straight along the edges. my daughter did take them to her last haircut for a 'look-see' and he said their hair is great, leave it for a couple of more years. (a side note -- when they went with my daughter to her last haircut they watched her get her hair dried under heat lamps. when they were at my house this past week they played with a reading lamp, turned it on, turned it to their faces, and then literally scrunched their hair. it was sooo cute!)
if you sometimes wear your hair straight you let the stylist know that and they will cut the edges so they fall straight. so, for me, the answer is she gave you a great cut! :-)

I just had a deva cut In october, my first one. They washed it, dried it, then cut it. They went back in with Mr. Right and re wet some areas to re-curl them. Not sure what you mean by jagged edges, but my issue is that when I did my hair at home, my hair reclumped differently, so I have curl ringlets that are all nice and then at the end it tapers off thin. Because when it was cut, it was clumped to another coil.

FWIW the clump could have been split and part trimmed shorter in order to give it more lift. There's a picture of this in the original edition of Curly Girl.

My sylist cuts my hair dry, and then washes my hair. Sometimes I point out a curl to her if it's out of place.
It is true that the hair can dry differently, especially when you style it yourself, and then the curls will be out of place. I think it's perfectly acceptable to call and ask for a touch up free of charge. But most devacuts are a little uneven at the ends, if only because the curls are different. You may find you just prefer wet cuts.
I also agree that specifying getting your ends cut so it looks nice curly and straight is a good idea.

This exactly!!! I guess my question is whether other stylists cut again when wet (aside from the obvious stray hairs left behind). I'm not bashing the cut or technique, it just feels different and I was trying to compare experiences.
She did ask me if I wear my hair straight ever which I don't. The other problem is that I went in with my hair parted in the middle but the cut I have now is for a side part so next time it'll be more even (I'll wear side part). Hope that makes sense.

I don't like these thin/jagged edges either. Next time I'm going to mention it to see if there is a way to prevent it. I think it makes my ends look thin and straggly.
