Today is naked day...
for my hair!! Ever since I started CG I've gelled, styled and diffused my hair, and it generally looks nice. Today I just let it air dry straight out of the shower. It feels soft and healthy! Any ladies care to share what your "naked" hair looks like? And any tips on wearing curls with no styler?

Wow your hair is amazing without product. The first pic is a tad creepy though (I like creepy).

lol it is pretty creepy. Lisa, your hair is amazing too, wow!!!! I am trying to grow mine, that's pretty much how i ended up finding this site. I googled "how to get long hair". So I found that with no product, my hair is barely wavy. Today it looks pretty much straight, so weird.

Lovely!! Why would you ever wear it with product??? It looks beautiful naked!!
Only tips i'd have are LI and maybe some oil to seal and help keep frizz at bay. If frizz is a big problem, you could always add back in a little gel - perhaps even something like FSG.
But it's just lovely in those pics! You are very lucky!!!

I went no product today out of shear laziness lol my hair is a lighter color :-)
My only suggestion is leave a little conditioner in (don't rinse it all out) and don't touch it!! I have trouble with that last bit hence the fuzzies I have going on lol

Thanks dresden and jas it was just an experiment. The curl gradually fell out of my hair and I did get some frizzies by the end of day 1. Day 2 my hair got practically straight, and today it feels like straw. Is it possible that gel helps to hold the moisture in? I never use a leave-in anymore Sus811, I would need something without glycerin. That usually makes me frizz like crazy. Then the few times I used sm smoothie I got straw hair too. BTW, I loved your product-free spirals!

Thanks, but even mine fell out (again, I don't know what it means to not touch my hair lol and when it's fuzzy and unruly I am worse about trying to tame it away from my face!!). I don't use leave in conditioner, just my normal shower conditioner I don't rinse out all of the way if I'm lazy/naked that day lol

Jas when you seal do you do: leave in, seal(with what? And do u just put it in the same way u do leave in or gel?) Then gel? Or what steps do u take?

I personably do LI, then oil, then gel.
I seal with different things - jojoba oil, SM elixir, but my HG is mineral oil. My hair is pretty porous so I lose a lot of moisture. When I use MO, it helps hold moisture in, keeps tangles at bay (my nape can be RIDICULOUS), and hold excess humidity out (when that applies!)
I have no issues with build-up, even when co-washing. I do clarify occasionally, and I use low-poo once a week, but I never notice any issues.
I just do a few drops onto very wet hair. My hair is long and dense, but I use 3-5 drops on my nape, and then 3-5 more on my ends. (of course some moves up the hair shaft when I apply gel, I'm sure.)
Sometimes it helps to mix the oil with a little LI, just so it's thicker and easier to see where I'm puting it.
I use the same "system" no matter what type of oil I'm using.
HTH!

Oh! Meant to mention, if you are going for naked hair and want to try sealing, let me know if you have better curl retention!

Jas, I tried using a bit of my RO as a leave-in. No luck, at all! I got frizzy hair, but it does feel soft. I wonder if the frizz means my hair still needs something. I kind of figured it was healthy because it looks nice with gel. But naked its like cotton candy

I can't even THINK about no gel unless my hair has plenty of protein. My LI would be protein heavy, and I'd have to put some oil in there.
But honestly I just don't go gel free! Lol!

Maybe that's it!!!! My gel is protein heavy (LALPS). Maybe a protein heavy LI could do the trick. Now to find one... and I am super broke I'd love to try soft waves like the actress who plays Jane Rizzoli on TV.
and Puertoricangirl, you and your hair are very pretty Lucky your hair can go naked. Mine is not liking it at all

I gave up on naked today too, lol. Looking good with those spirals Sus
So interestingly enough my boyfriend (who has hated every minute of my curly hair) said he prefers the naked look to the gelled "perfect" curl look. I personally thought I looked awful naked after the initial pics, and it only got worse in the next few days. But maybe, just maybe, with softer hold products I can accomplish a curl that gets one compliment out of him. Just the one "I like your hair" and I'll be ok hah.
Unfortunately there isn't ANYTHING that can hold my hair other than a hard hold gel. So what's a girl to do
