Default new to the forum.. curl type?

Hi Everyone, i am new to the forum. 5 days CG. what do you think my wave type is? i think 2a or 2b.

I have been straightening my hair for at least 10 years (Japanese perm earlier years, and flat iron twice a week in the most recent years). peer pressure i guess since my culture loves straight hair.

I have now decided to embrace my waves - tied of all the upkeeps to obtain straight hair!! Hope to learn from all of you.

Welcome Lindaazure! From you pics it seems you are right - you look like 2a/b to me, but many people will tell you that your hair's properties (for example how porous it is) is more important in choosing products than the hair type. But I think hair type is an important jumping off point.

There is a special 2 forum that you might like to read up on. Best of luck with your journey to embrace your waves! I hope to read about some of your experiences.

thanks curlypearl.

i just figured out. my hair properties are: low porosity, mid density, coarse, and a little below shoulder length when my hair is dried.

For the first 5 days i have used:

Conditioner wash: Tresemme Tresemme Naturals moisture conditioner

Style: Shea moisture coconut & hibiscus curl & hold smoothie

I apply the Shea moisture smoothie while my hair is still we and then plopping.

I haven't done this long enough to know if this works for me.

Will share more later

Default improved - 3 weeks CG

The picture on the left is the 2nd week of CG, first day hair. The picture on the right is the 3rd week of CG, 3rd day hair. It is improving.

Product seems to make a difference. I have changed product from Shea moisture coconut Curl & Hold smoothie to Kinky curly curling custards. My hair is much more bouncier and the waves are more defined.

Wow, your hair is gorgeous! And look at how much more defined the curl is already! Glad you found a product that is working for you; I'm a big fan of the KC Custard myself.

lindaazzure, your hair will probably become more and more wavy over the next few months, especially once you figure out what products and routines your hair likes. I didn't see my hair's real potential for a good 6 months and then I was was like "holy moly, where did this come from?"
