Vine is the latest mobile service in social media applications, and since its launch this week, it already has the internet all atwitter.
Essentially, Vine is a new video sharing service that allows users to create and share short, six second visual loops (like animated gifs, but with sound). What this means is that, in addition to a standard 140 character tweet, your content can also include mini videos for your followers to see.
The free service has unlimited uploads and allows you to find, follow and keep tabs on all your friends and family in a feed (a lot like Instagram). The app is available for download on iPhone and iPod Touch, and although the company has been acquired by Twitter, you don’t need a Twitter account to start sharing.
Sure, it’s only six seconds, but if you know how to utilize this new social media tool you can use it to change the way you interact online.
1. Promote your brand
If you are a well-known naturalista, then trying to get people to view your videos, check out your blog or like you on Facebook may not be your problem.
But, for curlies trying to gain more exposure, increase their followers or just get their idea off the ground, filming a quick, creative video can lure folks into looking at your content in other places online.
2. Mini tutorials
Yes, your 15 minute tutorial was awesome, but everyone doesn’t have time to sit down with a cup of tea to figure out how you got that amazing ‘do.
Trim your tutorials down to the basic steps without skimping on the essentials by sharing a video of pivotal moments while styling and cut out all the extra talk.
3. Product reviews
We all know a picture is worth a thousand words, but what about a six second clip that shows you everything you need to know about a product?
A colorful, moving video of how great your hair looks after using that new shampoo, conditioner or oil will really paint the picture better than words.
4. Quick tips
You easily can pull together some of your best suggestions and recommendations for your followers without taking all day.
Compile some concise tips on how to best moisturize your curls, keep the frizz down during the cold weather, or all the different looks you can try out with one of the season’s trendy accessories.
5. Showing us your curls
We’ve seen all the jaw-dropping photos of your beautiful curls and coils on our Facebook page, and now we will be able to see your hair in motion!
You can ask us and other users questions about your curl pattern, give us a visual transition update, or show off your thick, bouncy curls!
