Going natural in the new year
With the new year in full swing, a lot of folks out there are following through on their plans to transition from relaxed or chemically-treated hair to the natural texture of their own hair.
The decision to switch styles can be inspired by all kinds of reasons, such as seeking a healthier way to care for your hair, boredom with the repetitive routine of maintenance, wanting to try out a new look or just wanting to see what your hair looks like in its natural state.

The transformation
The most important part of embarking on the journey to coily, curly and natural is recognizing that your transition period will be a totally unique and personal experience that requires patience and persistence. Going natural can be more than just a physical transformation, it can also be a psychological transition for many.
Atlanta hairstylist and salon owner Najah Aziz faced the mental challenges of “setting aside the creamy crack” and sugests that it can take six months up to a year for your hair to be completely chemical-free.

And remember…
It’s important to know that the change will not be as drastic as imagined. Before your curls reach their full potential, there will probably be periods of time where your lovely locks may not be immediately pleasing in a number of ways from the texture to the length to how fast or slow it may be growing.
But, the most valuable piece of advice to remember while you’re transitioning? Remember to enjoy every kink, curl, coil, spiral, wave and ringlet because it’s yours!

I agree that you need lot of patience during the transition period. Its been one year with my transitioning and still going on. I am scared to do the big chop since I have 3b curls and not sure if it will suit me.
