Hello! I’m new to the site and the first sentence of this article got me interested “Now that I am a reformed curly girl (i.e. I grew out my chemically straightened hair, tossed my blow dryer and flat iron and haven’t used traditional shampoo in four years), my curls look pretty good….”. My curls have actually been ruined by bleaching and now I’m struggling to get them back. Is there a tip for this or some previous article I could read? Thanks :D

There are great tips in chapter in the book Curly Girl: The Handbook. They had a whole section about growing out your hair. just be patient and condition a lot. and start treating your hair as if it’s curly (i.e. no shampoo, no brushing). i spent a year with ponytails and buns but it was worth it!!

P.S. I don’t brush it except when it’s wet and conditioned, but I use a shampoo. What to use instead of shampoo? And where to buy the book?

you can buy it at amazon or any bookstore. it changed my life!! use a sulfate free shampoo or just use conditioner. sounds weird but it works!! i’m obsessed with the Devachan products. i’ve never liked my hair and now i love it!

I live in Abu Dhabi and I’ve searched for at least one sulfate-free shampoo but I haven’t found anything :(
