Thank you for this great article!
Jojoba Oil though would not be considered a humectant as it is an oil, the definition of a humectant is a non-oily ingredient that attracts moisture from the atmosphere.

I love mango butter. It’s a little lighter than shea and smells delish!

Shea butter is not the thing to use for those of us with fine-textured hair. At least, this has been my personal experience. However, my hair has responded well to jojoba oil. The proverbial jury is still out w/r/t coconut oil. A friend suggested that I may have used too much, as one only needs to use it sparsely for the best effect. So, I will keep experimenting with coconut oil.

Great ideas… I’ll probably try some of these.
I wouldn’t try honey in the summer when there are flies though! Flies like me too much as it is.

I have fine, 4a type hair, I like shea butter, but I haven’t had much luck with EVOO. Honey left a nice scent on my hair when I used it.

to ladybreukelen: jojoba oil is not actually an oil–it is a wax ester.

Argan oil is another great ingreadient for hair, no matter the type. I’ve been using Pro Naturals Moroccan Argan Oil System for my hair and it’s great at restoring its health and nourishing each strand. My hair is healthy, shiny and vibrant now :)

What about argan oil? Argan Oil is a natural organic product which will protect, restore and enrich your hair. It’s rich in vitamins E, C, F and A. It is also rich in Omega 9, Essential Fatty Acids, Squalene and Antioxidants.

It’s incredibly good for hair!! I use Pro Naturals Moroccan Argan oil because it has no sulfates, silicones or other chemicals that damage hair.
